The Paris Tourism Office on the Avenue des Champs-Elysées is a good place to find
out about all that's happening in the City of Light. You can book museum tickets
online and avoid long queues on the day.
Paris is the world's favourite tourism destination and home to several of the
most visited monuments - and your Romantic Paris Rental is ideally
situated to take advantage of it all!
Getting around
The best way to visit Paris is on foot and it's a very manageable city. Of the next
best option is public transport.
The metro is world-renowned for being efficient, fast, frequent and safe.
However, don't neglect the buses! You can see more of Paris from a bus and
get where you want to go too!
From the apartment: Romantic Montmartre is wonderfully located for
public transport. The local electric bus, the Montmartrobus, stops almost
outside the door and will take you around the neighbourhood
.
The nearest metro stations - just a few minutes away - are Abbesses or
Lamarck-Caulaincourt, both on the versatile line 12 - which will take you to
Concorde, the Left Bank and Montparnasse, and allow you to link easily to
anywhere else in Paris. The no. 80 bus from down the road on rue Caulaincourt
will take you directly to the Eiffel Tower.
You can buy a multi-day pass, Paris Visite, allowing unlimited travel on the bus,
metro, tramway and RER networks in Paris and its suburbs. The pass comes
with a booklet of reductions, including reduced entry into several monuments,
including the Dali museum up the road.
One of the great pleasures in Paris is the variety
of wonderful cuisines. You'll find a selection of
excellent restaurants nearby. Check out our
restaurant guide in the apartment for
suggestions and add your own!
Or take a class at Cook'n with Class in
Montmartre and learn the secrets of French
cuisine! Great fun and a great gift idea for
friends! The chefs all speak English.

If you feel a need to get out of the city, there are several big parks on the outskirts of Paris. The most famous is the Bois de Boulogne, where you can go for long walks, have a picnic by the lake, go cycling, boating and horse-riding. There's also the Bois de Vincennes in the east.
Farther afield, explore the Palais de Versailles built by Louis XIV, gardens; the Chateau de Fontainebleau and its forests; or the Chateau de Chantilly (where the cream comes from), complete with the original moat. Or visit the famous flea market at St Ouen: Les Puces

For the best ice cream in Paris, try Berthillon. Join the queues at the original Berthillon stands on the Ile de la Cité, esp in front of the restaurant Le Flore en l'ile. Also available around the city. Delicious!

It may sound like a cliché but you really can't leave Paris without visiting the Eiffel
Tower. You can avoid the long lines by booking your ticket online!! Or take the
metro to Trocadero for the best view of the tower, from the Palais de Chaillot. The
tower is particularly lovely at night when, for 10 minutes every hour, starting at the
top of the hour, some 30,000 bulbs sparkle and dance in a spectacular light display.
